Calculator

Machine payback calculator

Estimate how long a machine or robot takes to pay for itself. Enter the investment and the monthly benefits and costs.

Result

Net benefit per month (EUR): –
Payback period (months): –
Yearly return on investment (%): –

How it works

The net monthly benefit is the savings plus the extra profit minus the running costs. The payback period is the investment divided by the net monthly benefit. The yearly return is twelve months of net benefit divided by the investment.

Net = savings + extra profit − running costs Payback = investment / net ROI = 12 × net / investment

Example

An investment of 100,000 EUR with 3,000 EUR savings, 2,000 EUR extra profit and 500 EUR running costs per month gives a net benefit of 4,500 EUR, a payback of about 22 months and a yearly return of 54 %.

This simple model ignores financing costs, taxes, depreciation and changes in volume. Use realistic numbers for your own production.
