Cobot payload calculator
Add up the weight the robot must carry, including the gripper, and add a margin to find the rated payload you should look for.
How it works
The robot carries the products and the gripper together. Multiply the product weight by the number of products per pick, add the gripper and tooling, then add the margin.
Payload = (product weight × number + gripper) × (1 + margin / 100)
Example
A 5 kg product picked one at a time with a 2 kg gripper and a 20 % margin points to a payload of about 8.4 kg.
The usable payload also depends on the reach and the position of the load. Check the payload chart in the robot datasheet and make a risk assessment for the whole application.
