Collaborative robots (cobots) are built to work next to people and are often used for palletizing, packing and machine tending. Choose by the task, the payload and the cell around the robot.
Add the weight of the product, the gripper and any tooling to get the real payload. Check the reach for the farthest pick and place point and for the pallet height you need.
For palletizing, consider the pallet size, the stacking height, the product weight and the cycle time you need. A cobot is slower than a classic industrial robot but needs less fencing in many installations.
A cobot is not automatically safe in every application. The gripper, the product and the speed all matter, so the whole application needs a risk assessment under the applicable standards.
Look for simple programming for your operators and for easy connection to conveyors, sensors and your production line.
Plan the footprint of the robot, the pallet positions and the access for operators and forklifts.
An industrial robot is faster and handles heavier loads but usually works behind safety fencing. A collaborative robot is slower and lighter but is designed to share space with people, subject to a risk assessment.
Add the weight of the heaviest product and the gripper. Choose a robot whose rated payload covers that total with a margin.
It depends on the whole application, including the gripper, the load and the speed. A risk assessment decides what protection is needed.
It depends on the cell and your line. Tell us about your application and we will discuss the integration.
Palletizing robots can usually be programmed for several patterns and product sizes. Tell us your products and pallets so we can confirm.
