How to choose a sawing machine

Sawing machines cut bar, tube and profiles to length. The right type depends on the material, the cross-section and the number of cuts you make each day.

Band saw or circular saw

Band saws are versatile, cut a wide range of sections and use less material in the kerf. Circular saws are fast and give a clean cut on suitable sections in series work.

Cutting capacity

Check the capacity for round, square and rectangular sections and for mitre angles if you need them.

Manual, semi-automatic or automatic

Automatic feeding and cutting saves labour in production. Semi-automatic machines are a good balance for smaller volumes.

Blade and coolant

Blade type, speed and coolant affect cut quality and blade life. Choose them for the material you cut.

Material handling

Plan infeed and outfeed support for long bars and for stacking cut pieces.

Sawing machines: frequently asked questions

Band saw or circular saw?

A band saw is more flexible and handles many sections. A circular saw is a good choice for fast, clean cuts in series work on suitable sections.

How do I check the cutting capacity?

Compare the maximum round, square and rectangular dimensions in the specification with your largest section.

Is an automatic saw worth it?

If you cut many pieces every day, automatic feeding and cutting saves time and keeps lengths consistent.

Do I need coolant?

Coolant extends blade life and improves cut quality for most metals. Choose by material and volume.

Can you recommend a saw for my material?

Yes. Tell us the material, sections and daily volume and we will suggest models.
